On April 17, CNN reported that Nora Aunor, a former top actress in the Philippines, has died at the age of 71. Her daughter broke the news, but did not provide details or the cause of death.

Ms. Aunor is considered one of the most successful actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry, having been in the industry for over 70 years. She started out as a singer before moving into the film industry.

Nora Aunor has been credited in over 200 films and television series, winning numerous awards, including for Andrea, What is It Like to be a Mother and Thy Womb.

Her latest work was last year, when she starred in the film Mananambal and appeared in the TV series Lilet Matias, Attorney-at-Law. Nora Aunor was also honored as a National Artist.
